Channel Building Company Completes Renovation of Smith Motor Sales of Haverhill

Innovative Autohaus design focuses on the customer experience

Wilmington, MA– November 1, 2010 –  Channel Building Company, a leading design-build commercial construction company, today announced that they have completed a major renovation of Smith Motor Sales of Haverhill located at 420 River Street in Haverhill, MA.

The Mercedes-Benz ‘Autohaus’ initiative is a global effort to align all the dealerships in their design. The primary new features include a sense of welcome, familiarity, transparency, openness, unencumbered product representation and customer convenience.

Improvements to the original 18,000 square foot building that was built by Channel Building Company in 1998 were a 1,300 square foot showroom addition to the existing 2,750 square feet. The showroom elevation of the building now has 250% more glass along with a continuous 10’ structural steel thin-edge roof element and eleven signature Autohaus columns. The renovation also included upgrading the customer lounge, service administration area and finishes in the repair shop. From the thin-edge roof element to the porcelain tiled showroom, this new renovation by Channel Building Company has been designed to meet the needs of Smith Motor Sales and their customers.

Smith Motor Sales remained open during this renovation and held a grand opening in October.
