Channel Building Completes Construction of Needham Bank
Major Renovation project in Needham, Massachusetts
Wilmington, MA– March 31, 2008 – Channel Building Company, a leading design-build commercial construction company, today announced the completion of the new 16,000 square foot Needham Bank in Needham, Massachusetts.
This design-build renovation project, that began in Spring 2007, involved joining two existing early 20th century buildings, increasing the banks overall size by 75%. Maintaining the historical integrity of the buildings was of great importance to Needham Bank and design features include the creative use of existing exterior brick walls and vaulted glass ceiling, forming the new interior atrium entranceway.
The goal of the design-build team led by Marc Lehoullier, Project Executive at Channel Building, was to create an expanded, bright and spacious environment, while preserving the historical architecture of the original building. Channel’s design team collaborated with Strategic Design Works of Natick on the bank’s interior design, bank equipment, office furnishings and fixtures.
Additional building renovations included adding a second floor to one of the buildings within the existing height restrictions, maximizing the space for executive offices and meetings rooms. The building was completely updated with new electrical and mechanical infrastructures, fire protection, and structural modifications. Every square foot of building space was utilized including the basement level which now is home to new training rooms, the staff lounge and file storage area.
“We are delighted with the outcome of this project”, stated the bank’s representative, Vic Taylor, Principal Partner of Turning Point Solutions. “We chose Channel Building based on their reputation for designing and building superior quality buildings on time and within budget. Their design expertise and their ability to resolve issues quickly, along with their response to the banks needs were exemplary. With their help we were able to remain open throughout the construction process and maintain service to our patrons”. Taylor further stated that the new space brings to the bank the much needed room and infrastructure to continue to meet the growing needs of customers in the community.
Further enhancements included creative solutions to handicap accessibility due to the multiple floor levels in the teller and customer service areas, as well as a new accessible rear entrance ramp, elevator and ATM.
As a full-service construction company, Channel Building Company managed all the necessary preconstruction services including permitting, value engineering, constructability review, scheduling and budgeting.
